In case you didn't know, Jared has friend at preschool that he really likes. Her name is Brooklyn. He has come home from school on many occasions and told me that he and Brook colored together or they went to the same centers, etc. His face would light up when he talked about her and he referred to her as his "girlfriend." He even said he was going to marry her. Then last Monday he got in the van after school and told me that Brook told him that was her "boyfriend." He was pretty excited about it.
SO, on Friday he got in the van after school and as we were driving he says, "Brook dumped me."
"What?!?", I replied, quite certain that my 5 year old had not just said this.
"Brook told me she was going to dump me today." OH! I thought.
"How does that make you feel?", I asked.
"Well, she is going to marry Jackson now. But at least she is my ex-girlfriend now!"
I was not quite sure how to respond to all this since these are terms that I didn't expect to hear out of Jared's mouth until high school. So, I asked him where he learned about such things.
"I made them up." He said, very matter-of-factly.
Oh! Okay!

How funny. Kids grow up so fast!
Um, he is wise beyond his years. Because I'm pretty dang sure all the stuff in high school is "made up" too. Awesome.
