I have been a major slacker on this blog thing. There is so much to tell that I feel overwhelmed just thinking about it. Here are some of the highlights from the past few weeks.
The kids and I left for Utah on June 2nd. Keith had to work and joined us later. The plane ride there was okay, but loooong. I thought it would be better to not have to change planes, but I would rather do that than have to sit on a plane and wait for more people to get on. The kids were a little restless and a change of scenery was helpful on the flight home when we did change planes. Anyways, our trip was great! We got to see my little brother, Nick, graduate from high school. And I should add that he also earned his Associates degree. He's a great kid and I'm so proud of him. The kids had lots of fun with all the family around and we stayed up way to late "hanging out." Luckily my mom was awesome and let me sleep in. :)
Then there was the 5K!! I am proud to report that I did it and I ran (jogged) the whole time! Go me! My Mom, Aunt Karen and little bro, Matt also participated. Not to mention my friend, Daisie, who was in Utah also visiting her family. It was a great day and it made me realize that I can do anything I set my mind to. I have found a new love for running. I have set a new goal for October to run a 5K in 30 minutes. I think I can!
Later that same day we went up into the Canyon. I reserved this picnic area with a fire pit and we roasted hot dogs and made s'mores. It was lots of fun. It was cute to watch the kids. Jared, Keith, and I climbed a little bit up a mountain. It was probably one of the highlights of the whole trip.
It is great to visit family, but it is also nice to come back home. It took me a few days to recoop and get back on a normal schedule. I'm still waiting for Mason to sleep through the night again. He does it one day and then is crazy the next. I can't figure out if he's teething or what. He still has no teeth, but I'm okay with that considering I'm still nursing him. He is enjoying some cereal and baby food now, but other than that it's all me! AND he refuses to take a bottle, which adds a special challenge to my life. But I love that little boy so much and he has me wrapped around his finger. He is such a mommy's boy too. He should be crawling any day. He can roll and scoot to what he wants and gets up on his hand and legs. My world will be a different place when he is mobile. Ugh.
Jared left for his dad's house on June 19th. He will be back on July 5th. It is hard when he is gone, but I know that he loves it. Jared is still obsessed with Super Heroes and the newest thing is comic books. My mom gave him some from her book store and he loved it. He carried them around everywhere and took them to bed every night. He still loves to draw his favorite heroes and is getting very good at it. He is so excited to start Kindergarten and keeps asking me when. He is also already talking about his birthday and has a hard time understanding when things happen and the whole season/month thing. He got very upset with me one day because he kept asking what season was next and I would say fall. Then he asked what was after that, I said winter. We went through all the seasons and then he said, frustrated, then"When is October?" It's very cute. He didn't know the difference between month and season. And why would he? He is only 5. I love his innocence.
Brittany is the cutest these days. She is talking and saying the cutest things. Yesterday she told me that she put sunless tanner on her face. Wonder where she picked that up??? Hmmmm. She loves her baby and reads to her and takes very good care of her. She loves to help me around the house and is actually a very good helper. She is so sweet and sensitive. She also loves to go swimming and play with her friends. She talks on her "cell phone" with her friend, Olivia. Sometimes when I listen to her she is saying things she hears me say and other times she is saying things that make absolutely no sense! Whatever she is doing it is cute and I love watching her. I sometimes wish I could freeze her at this age, but I know that she is going to grow up to be just as amazing as she is now!
Before we left for Utah, we were thinking about putting the house on the market. We even met with a realtor and everything. I was excited and overwhelmed all at the same time. I was feeling uneasy about it and kept praying to make the right decision. So, we went to Utah and I was still thinking that we would go forward with it, but was still waiting for a definite answer. Well, I finally got my answer. The day after we got home I woke up and thought to myself, "We just need to stay here." Immediately I felt peace and everything made sense. So, I emailed the realtor and told her not now. It is amazing how awesome I feel about it. There is no rush. It's not like we have to move, or need to move. We have room for our family and we will enjoy another year in our little home!!
This leads me to the next big thing in our lives. Keith got spoiled rotten on Father's Day. We decided to "look" for a new car for him. Well, we did a little bit more than looking. In fact, we bought him a new car. Well, not new, but new to us. We finally got rid of the hail-damaged, deer-dented, Kia. Hallelujah!!! I know Keith is much happier driving around in his 2001 BMW. And I should add how much fun that car is to drive in! I find every excuse I can to drive it. Keith deserved a great Father's Day. He is a great dad and has been working very hard. Between a new job, studying for his CPA, his calling at church, and all of my demands, he certainly works hard!! I should add that he has passed his first two sections of the CPA and only has two more to go!! He is one smart dude and I'm happy that the expensive review courses and all the time he is putting in is paying off.
As for me, I'm hoping to take at least one online class this fall and gradually work on my degree. I will someday earn it! It might take several years, but it WILL happen!!!

Hmmm, so now that you've run your
5K, do YOU get a BMW? Sounds fair to me! I hope you know how awesome you are! Go runner legs!
