It's hard to believe that 2008 is over. It is true what they say about how time flies when you get old. 2008 was a great year for me. I look forward to what 2009 will bring. The highlight of 2008 for me was giving birth to my third child, Mason. Seems like the whole year was centered around this. Especially since we started "trying" in January, I found out I was pregnant in February and then spent until October pregnant. It doesn't end there, I'm breastfeeding so I still feel very consumed by the whole thing, but I love it! For the coming year I hope to work on getting my body back and possibly going back to school part time in the fall.
Christmas was great. We had a cozy Christmas at home with our three children. Jared and Brittany were so cute and at the perfect age. We always open presents from relatives on Christmas Eve and of course get new PJ's. Jared was so excited that he could hardly contain himself. I think Brittany was trying to figure out exactly what Christmas was all about. I'm sure next year she will know exactly what to expect. So, they opened their gifts from my mom and their PJ's and a Candy Land game on Christmas Eve and then they went to bed no sweat! Christmas morning they both came into our room at 7:30a.m. (not too bad) and couldn't wait to go downstairs. Santa had a scooter for each of them and a sled. There were numerous other gifts under the tree and both of their stockings were full. They must have been good kids! Jared ripped through his gifts so fast that it felt like Brittany had much more than him, but she was just much slower. When it was all said and done they were both very happy and they spent the rest of the day playing with their new stuff. I spent the rest of the day making dinner, getting ready for our trip to Dallas and trying not to feel to overwhelmed and just enjoy the holiday.
We left for Dallas the next morning and had a surprisingly good drive down. I was a little nervous about how it would go with 3 small children, but we made great time and there were no major "problems." We decided to go to Dallas sort of last minute since every one of Keith's siblings was going to be there and his grandparents. His dad was very happy that we came and I think it will be a memorable experience for all. His parents got Rock Band for the Wii and we all had fun playing it. I must admit I was very reluctant at first, but when I finally did it, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I am now in the market to buy one, but can't find a single one in town. Jared left Dallas on Sunday to go to Joe's for his Christmas visit and he will be home on Saturday. He got another whole Christmas there. He is spoiled!
So, we got home on Tuesday and then it was time for New Year's Eve. We went to our good friend's, the Peters, for a New Year's Eve get-together. It was great fun and all the kids stayed awake for the midnight hour! Today we went to lunch at Olive Garden (YUM!) and did some shopping. It's been a great holiday season and I am so grateful for the life I have. I look forward to this next year and all of it's great experiences and memories.
